September 2020 - Letter from your Governor

Our 2020-2020 NAR Governor Diane M. Savidge sent the below letter:

Greetings to all my Soroptimist Friends and Family,

Although 2020 has been a very trying year for us, it’s hard to believe that we are already into September and looking to what we hope will be beautiful fall weather with all the beauty it can bring us.

In the words of an unknown author, “Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go”. So, let’s let go of the past months of quarantine, isolation, and sense of loneliness and come together for a renewed life as we begin our club year of 2020-2021 together.

It is time for us to once again, be looking to new beginnings in Soroptimist, renewing old friendships among us, inducting new members, new ways of doing business, new Live Your Dream applicants, new fundraising opportunities, and so much more.

I do hope that each of your clubs are engaging with your members, be it in person or virtually because it is of utmost importance that we connect with one another and continue the important work we have done in the past. Just as the women we help in our local communities and all over the world, our members need us now more than ever and without reaching out and connecting with them, they are going to feel lost. So please, if you have not already done so, make sure you are conducting business as usual in whatever way you can. Zoom has become our best friend and although it’s not the same as meeting in person it is still a way of staying connected and showing one another that sense of belonging.

I hope many of you are planning events to make your clubs known in your local communities and allowing your communities to know that you are still here for them in these times of need. Please share those events with your NAR board, and in particular with your District Directors, and we will be sure to share them to the NAR website and Facebook page so that all of us may have an opportunity to help one another. Also be sure to share your newsletters and meeting dates so that the members of the board can connect with all of you.

The NAR board has continued to meet virtually throughout the summer and we are excited to announce that since we were unable to have our late summer conference, leadership seminar or Fall District meetings, we have decided to put together several virtual educational programs for you this fall and we do hope that you will join us for these events. Please stay tuned as we work out the details and dates for these opportunities.

Always know that your NAR Board is here for you, so please do not be afraid to connect with us if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing many of you virtually, if no other way is possible, and I wish you all a great beginning to a new club year.

Always,

Diane M. Savidge
