Soroptimist International of Staten Island to Award Grants to Local Non-Profits Serving Staten Island
Each year Soroptimist International of Staten Island awards grants to organizations for projects that serve the needs of women and girls on Staten Island and reflect the Soroptimist values of service to the community. The Community Service Awards complement SI/Staten Island’s other efforts that engage in awareness, advocacy, and action through the recognition of women of distinction in our community, financial aid for women in crisis, scholarships for women pursuing higher education and beginning new careers, and for youth involved in community service.
On June 7th, 2023, Soroptimist International of Staten Island will honor seven inspiring and impactful organizations: Person Centered Care Services, The Makeup on Wheels Foundation, Out of the Storm Senior Housing, Eden II Programs, Staten Island Center for Independent Living, Emergency Children's Help Organization: ECHO, and the Staten Island Community Alliance.
Past recipients include Safe Horizon, Staten Island Urban Center, Community Health Center of Richmond’s Perinatal Network, Eger Health & Rehab Center, Emma’s Place, and Seamen’s Society for Children and Families.
As the signature event to end their year, President-Elect and Community Service Award Co-chair Tina Bilcher Murphy remarks that these awards enable SI/Staten Island to, “recognize other local organizations for their selfless acts of service in making a world of difference in the lives of those that inhabit our tiny but mighty island.”
The Awards will be held at 6:30pm at Nino’s Restaurant. For more information on the event and for tickets ($42pp) visit: https://www.soroptimistsi.org/upcoming-events.
