October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

If anyone knows me at all, they know I do not voluntarily speak in front of any group of people. But this month I asked to give the inspiration at our member meeting. I wanted to take a moment to recognize the women in the room, in the club, and in our lives that have fought and are continuing to fight cancer.

We see you; we love you; we support you and we are in awe of you. The strength you have that has carried you through diagnosis and treatment, to continuing to show up to work, to raising your families, supporting your communities, to running your homes and the world, is truly remarkable.

And the thing that fuels that strength is hope. Hope for a cure, a remission, a reprieve. Hope that the next day will be better than the last. Hope that life will continue.

Corresponding Secretary 20-22

“Hope” is the thing with feathers - (314)

“Hope” is the thing with feathers - That perches in the soul - And sings the tune without the words - And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard - And sore must be the storm - That could abash the little Bird That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land - And on the strangest Sea - Yet - never - in Extremity, It asked a crumb - of me.
