Helping women and girls since 1955

I want to say Thank You for your confidence in me to be your club President for the 2020-2022 biennium.

These past 4 years have been a true learning experience for me as your District Director. I cherish every moment I had. It gave me the opportunity to be prepared to be a club president. (Granted I did it backwards).

I look forward to hearing your suggestions, advice, wisdom, and corrections. Working with the 2020-2022 board we want to grow the club, help women and girls here on Staten Island and our school in Africa.

We have women of all stature in our club from Professors, Doctors, Head of Households, Business owners, Social workers, and Retirees, we welcome all into our meetings. Please ask your friends and neighbors to have dinner with us at any of our meetings. Invite them to our Ruby Awards Luncheon. You never know when something we are doing clicks with them to help or to be helped.

We will be continuing to talk with the Seamen’s Society to work with the young women there in the DIBI program. You never know where the next Soroptimist may come from.

I look forward to seeing you at our first meeting for the new biennium. The question of the day is Will the meeting be in person or virtual? Only time will tell.

Martha C Venditto

2020-2022 President

Comprising of four districts from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and parts of West Virginia we represent 43 clubs comprising of over 500 members.

Women at their best, working to help other women to be their best

Soroptimist was formed in 1921 in Oakland, California, at a time when women were not permitted to join service organizations. Our name, loosely translated from the Latin, means best for women. Today, we have about 160,000 members and supporters in 21 countries and territories. We are one of four federations that make up Soroptimist International, which has clubs in more than 120 countries throughout the world.
